We first met Kelly back in 2010 when we photographed her sister’s wedding and were so thrilled when she got in touch with the news of her own upcoming wedding at John James Audubon Center in Audubon, PA.
Kelly and Jim opted for a first look on the beautiful back porch of Mill Grove, which interestingly enough (if you’re an art history dork like me) was John James Audubon’s first home in America, and the only one still left standing in this country today. It was easy to see how he could draw inspiration from the abundance of natural beauty surrounding the house, as we led Kelly and Jim down weathered stone walkways to a beautiful field bursting with yellow blooms. The overcast sky that day ended up being great for the photos since all the fun colors Kelly picked for her bouquet really popped.
After their romantic and laid back first look session, Kelly and Jim headed back in to the stone barn on the property where they relaxed with their families and bridal party before the wedding ceremony. We loved how easy going and fun Kelly and Jim and their crew were to work with, and how many thoughtful details they had put in to their day, from unique decorations like the initial door which greeted the guests, to the delicious basil-lemonade and ice tea that they had set out for the guests to keep cool with during the ceremony. After a sweet and heartfelt outdoor ceremony, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour and live bluegrass music by The Keystone Mountain Boys in the stone barn, before heading to the pavilion on site for an open air dinner set against a backdrop of hundreds of candles and colorful floral arrangements.
