RJ and Dominique were lucky enough to get both a snowy tundra, and luscious tropical plants all in one proposal. With the incredibly unpredictable weather we’ve been having these past few winters, we had no idea what to expect when RJ originally reached out to plan his proposal and live engagement session with us. All RJ knew for certain was the date just before the holidays, that it would be at Longwood Gardens because Dominique loved flowers, and that he wanted Dominique to be his wife.
… As you can see from the photos, it’s safe to say things worked out!
We had coordinated beforehand that we would meet in the Conservatory in hopes of getting lots of blooms and flowers behind the actual proposal. We got to Longwood Gardens right as they opened. We were admittedly a little nervous since we had just gotten our first major snowfall of the season, which would definitely restrict where and how long we could work outdoors – usually our preferred “studio” if given the choice. We were also concerned that somehow the conservatory would be mega packed for the holidays, but we could not have been more wrong! We had almost the entire place to ourselves, in a little oasis amid the snow, with only the noise of the fountains to fill in the air. I even somehow managed to not cry as I watched RJ ask Dominique to spend her life with him zoomed through my lens.
Afterwards we spent some time touring the different rooms in the conservatory, where the lighting and chemistry just continued to get more amazing. Even though the tropical warmth inside the green house was mighty tempting to linger in, the glittering landscape outside kept catching everyone in the group’s eye as we worked, so we were thrilled when the newly engaged couple agreed to go outside to play in the snow with us for a few photos.
The magic that happened when these two started kissing and the wind picked up bits of snow from the trees around them can’t even begin to be described without sounding like more of a cheese ball than I already do, which is why I invite you to check out the pics below and see for yourself!
