Wedding at the Logan Hotel in Philadelphia | Meghan & Sam

Logan Philadelphia WeddingHow can I even begin to describe the whirlwind force that is Meghan and Sam? Mostly Meghan. Sam is more of the calm center of the storm type. When I first “met” Meghan it was via email. I knew immediately we’d get along because she was just as lengthy, excited, and descriptive with her emails as I was. Quickly from there we moved it to meeting digitally via FaceTime because Sam and Meghan, who are native Philadelphians, have since relocated (after an epic road trip which is a whole other story on it’s own) to Nashville. It was (friend) love at first sight! Meghan made us feel instantly at ease, and beyond that just so incredibly stoked to be a part of her day! She has this amazing talent for igniting passionate exuberance into every moment, and it is absolutely infectious. When we finally got to meet Sam, I didn’t really know what to expect, but he is the perfect counterpoint for Meghan in every way and watching the two of them interact absolutely just sets your soul on fire.

I could not envision any other couple in the universe getting away with, no correction, absolutely rocking an outdoor ceremony in thirty degree weather with 20 mph wind gusts. The biting cold and swooping gusts of wind (which tore away Meghan’s veil from her head in the first seconds of entering the courtyard turned wind tunnel) only added the perfect touch of drama to an otherwise beyond perfect day. On the bright side, the winds and cold forced the ceremony and receiving line into over drive, which ended up pushing our anticipated timeline of getting to the Museum of Art forward just enough time to catch some of the most magical golden light reflecting off the buildings behind us. Ever true to the karmic perfection that this day was, it created cinematic hollywood lighting on our fateful stars for just a few minutes before the cold chased us back to the safety of the limo and to the hotel. This impromptu rushing back from the cold then led to us having just enough time to get up on the rooftop at the Philadelphia Logan Hotel in time to catch the last few rays of sun to kiss the buildings in Philly skyline.

And we were only getting started! From there we whisked the bridal party away to Temple University’s Geasey Field, where Meghan and Sam’s love story began. We had a ball (sorry) tossing the ol’ pig skin around for a few clicks, before finally returning to the coziest fire in front of the couple’s beautiful, and perfectly decorated reception room. What followed for M & S’s party made every scripted wedding moment in any movie pale in comparison. Sam literally swept his bride off her feet in a first dance that left everyone in attendance breathless. Then everyone was overcome with emotion as Meghan’s Dad gave a speech bursting with love for his newlywed daughter having found her match. When Sam’s two brother’s stepped up to the Mic afterwards no one expected much because they had such a tough act to follow. When Sam’s older brother promised a long and painful speech, we all twittered nervously. Surely he was kidding. He wasn’t kidding. His speech, set perfectly to the guitar track laid out quietly in the background by Sam’s younger brothers was as hilarious as it was excruciatingly long and had everyone in the room doubled over in laughter for a solid 20 minutes.

Again, this night that could not stop unfolding and topping itself morphed, when Meghan vanished and returned in a saucy little cocktail dress, her hair in wild beautiful waves, rocking a totally different look than earlier. This was when she unveiled the real entertainment for the evening, which I am going to have to recommend may be the THE new way to have a wedding reception. She opened up the microphone and dance floor simultaneously to an epic karaoke party for everyone in attendance!!! I have never so thoroughly not wanted a night (or blog post apparently!) to end.  However, just as every amazing movie must at some point let those credits roll, I’ll leave you dear reader, and say yet again, this is why we so adore what we do. When all is said and done on a a day that can barely even begin to be described even with all these words, we get to have the coolest job in the universe and be the ones somehow capturing these moments and preserving them in imagery.
