Jolie & Sean’s wedding at Morris Arboretum was the perfect day— we had nice sunny September weather, a super cool and unique couple who are 100% a perfect match for each other, and a wedding-day timeline that helped us to be creative and make the best photos possible. Keep scrolling to see my favorite shots and read my ramblings from their wedding…
The bride’s entourage were all getting ready while wearing some fun mushroom robes and Jolie gifted everyone coffee mugs. Everyone was cracking hilarious dirty jokes and having a great time while getting ready.
Meanwhile, my second photographer was down in the lobby photographing the groom, Sean, getting ready.
I was super excited that they were ok seeing each other prior to the ceremony and planned to do a ‘First look’. We all made our way over to the beautiful rose garden at Morris Arboretum to get started on that.
After the ‘First Look’ we had about a half hour to create a variety of couple’s portraits in the rose garden at Morris Arboretum. I asked my second photographer to make the naturally lit, candid-looking shots on the side whilst I worked with my lighting assistant to create some more dramatic, fashion-inspired wedding portraits.
It was time to meet up with their bridal party and get all of their group shots done before their ceremony. The rose garden at Morris Arboretum, at golden hour, made for the perfect backdrop to these shots. I was stoked to have my awesome lighting assistant helping me with these bridal party group portraits as my second photographer captured some more natural and candid shots on the side.
Everyone made their way over to the ceremony location. I asked Jolie to make a few more dramatically lit portraits with my lighting assistant.
After just a few minutes of that, Jolie went to chill with her bridal party in the air conditioning and my team hurried over to their ceremony as their wedding was about to kick off…
After their wedding ceremony, everyone went to cocktail hour. We did their family group portraits and then headed to the reception space to shoot photos of the details and decorations as we got ready for their entrances.
Their reception got started with intros and we all enjoyed watching Jolie and Sean’s first dance which they had obviously been practicing for some time.
The events of the evening started flying by quickly, good thing we were there to capture every moment!
The last things we did was, we set up this fun shot with their bridal party where we had them spray champaign all over us to get the most epic photo possible, and after that I borrowed their wedding rings for a macro shot. What a way to end such an amazing day!
