We now highly suspect that Angela & Richard have access to some sort of time slowing device or superhuman abilities. Our growing evidence includes that we were able to fit so many amazing looks into their Baltimore engagement session, and how they seemingly fit several weddings worth of events (and outfits!) into their wedding day.
Our day with this awesome couple started with a little bit of the typical getting ready, but quickly ramped up, as we found out that Richard would be participating in a Chinese tradition of playing “door games” to earn his way to his future bride. He and his groomsmen were required to demonstrate feats of wit, strength and epic dance moves in order to get to his first look with his future Bride in her hotel room.
From there, we headed over to one of our favorite venues, Glen Foerd. We were so excited because not only did we know we’d have a portrait session at their beautiful outdoor space since the weather was agreeable, but that we’d be able to take care of all the family and bridal party photos before the wedding even began! We then had an additional chance to tour the indoor spaces at Glen Foerd Mansion for more portraits of Richard and Angela in her traditional western style wedding gown.
After their ceremony, which of course went off without a hitch, we cycled through an insane amount of group photos at warp speed. When I initially saw Angela’s requested photo list for after the ceremony I admittedly was a little nervous about how we’d fit it all in. Thankfully with a little pre-planning and coordination we breezed through it in record time, and even had extra time to take more photos of Angela and Richard, utilizing her stunning veil, before she snuck away to change into her second outfit of the evening.
Angela looked incredible in the traditional red gown she wore to her Chinese Tea Ceremony. Lucky Richard was able to just keep his tuxedo on, so he had it pretty easy, but even the bridesmaids had somehow magically done a quick change act and all showed up in second dresses for their reception entrances.
The Tea Ceremony ended at the perfect time that we were able to sneak Richard and Angela out to the front lawn, for some golden hour photos, which just really set off the red and gold of her dress even more. We even got a preview of their first dance, which they pulled off beautifully in front of all their guests a few minutes later.
We had known in advance that Angela had 2 dresses, but somehow without anyone noticing, she snuck off out of the reception and showed up in her third dress for the night! After hilarious and heartfelt speeches from their friends and family, dinner and dancing all that was left was a sparkler exit as the cherry on top of the perfect day.
Everyone peacefully lined up (again-this NEVER happens!) and it looked like the day would go off as planned, until the sparklers just wouldn’t ignite. There were a few moments of panic, but miraculously just as we were about to give up, the first sparkler was lit, and Richard and Angela were able to end the most awesome day ever with the fairy tale ending they had envisioned.
